A lot of times we may have many desires in our life. However, it’s a good idea to focus on one desire at a time. It can start to become overwhelming when we have multiple areas in life we want to change at once. Instead, I’m going to review how you can manifest/ create your dream life, one desire at a time.
The story you tell yourself is very powerful
I’ve used the process that I’m going to share multiple times to achieve what I have desired in life. Overtime I’ve gotten even more specific on what I wanted, even if it seemed impossible or unrealistic at the time.
A couple years ago I was really happy in life but still hadn’t found the career I wanted. As a registered dietitian, I struggled to find a full-time job. I worked part-time/ per diem (adding up to full time) for several years but couldn’t seem to find a full-time job. I wanted something that allowed me to have full-time benefits, especially since I was already working full-time hours.
I kept telling myself the story that it’s hard for a dietitian to find a full-time job, especially since I only had a few years of experience in the field at the time. I told myself, “you will never find exactly what you want, there will have to be some compromise you’ll have to make.” Many dietitian jobs out there you have to work weekends, holidays, and/or late hours, which I didn’t want to do.
Because I kept telling myself this story, which was becoming my story in life.
Mindset Change
One day my mindset changed, I decided I was going to find my dream job fast.
I started listing out in my mind exactly what I wanted in my dream job, even though it seemed impossible and unreasonable.
I wanted a full-time job with good benefits where I could choose my own hours and not have to work any holidays or weekends. I wanted a corner office with two windows so I could fill my office with plants and to have a beautiful view of the mountains.
I also wanted to be within a close distance to my home, no more than 30 minutes away with the ability to work from home at times if there was a bad snowstorm or if I wasn’t feeling well.
I wanted my job to be stress free and to have the ability to be creative.
I believed with all my heart that I was going to find this job quickly and started imagining myself already living this life.
I started casually browsing online at full-time dietitian jobs. 2 days later my dream job popped up.
Everything I mentioned on my list came true. A position came up at a school/ residential facility for children and I became their first dietitian. The position was literally just created as I was dreaming about it! It turned out to be even better than I expected.
My other dream was always to get paid to garden. (Seemed impossible, especially as a dietitian.) That dream came true in this job as well. The campus I worked at was on over 500 acres of land.
I dreamed of creating a garden and teaching the kids that lived and went to school there to grow their own food. Within a few months of working there my dream came true and I was able to garden at work with a beautiful view of the mountains in the background. It never felt like work and was truly a dream come true for me!
As much as you may think of this as all being a coincidence, I’ve done this in several other areas in my life as well.
The reason I shared this story is because if I can do this, you can too! In all areas of your life.
I recommend starting with one desire at a time. I’ll review with you the steps you can take to manifest your desires in all areas of your life.
1. Dream big
Begin by writing out your desires, no matter how impossible it may seem to achieve it.
Get a journal or notebook out and start writing out exactly what it is you want in life. Start to really visualize that dream life. Then you can take one area of that to start working on first. Once you achieve that desire, you can continue to create the next one. Be so specific but don’t worry about the “how”. Don’t worry about how it’s going to happen, let the universe surprise you.
2. Believe you’re going to achieve your desires
Have faith- this is tricky for a lot of people. You need to work on your mindset and trust that everything is always working out for you.
Affirmations can help with this, I talk a little more about them below. Believe that everything is always working out for you, even if it doesn’t feel that way in the moment.
3. Be thankful for what you already have
Think about, or even write out what you are already thankful for in your life already. It helps change our mindset into a state of abundance. It helps us feel abundant now.
Even though you may not be exactly where you want to be in life, you have so much to be thankful for. Count your blessings multiple times everyday.
4. Start living like you already have what you desire
Really get into the feeling of already having what you desire. Have you ever heard the saying dress for the job you want, not for the job you have? Live like that.
How would you act, think, feel if you were living your dream life? What would you wear? How would your house look? How would you carry yourself? Start making small changes now to reflect your future self.
Then, you want to be thankful for your desire as if you already have it. Be so thankful and appreciative of it and really get into the feeling of what it would feel like to have it already. Live like you already have achieved your desires.
5. Observe the thoughts that come to your mind
Many times when we are trying to manifest what we really want in life, many limiting beliefs will come up. It can sometimes help to journal on these. Write out your limiting beliefs and change them with new beliefs.
Sometimes affirmations are really helpful with this. You really have to change your beliefs into what you want to believe in.
For example, if you want more money in your life look at what thoughts come up for you. If every time you want to buy something you think “I can’t afford that” or “I don’t have enough money”, you will always be in lack and will continue to create more of that in your life.
If you switch your beliefs to “I have more than enough money” or “money flows to me easily and effortlessly, you will create more of that in your life, as long as you believe it.
You can say affirmations like the ones I mentioned above daily to start changing your beliefs. Whenever you notice old thoughts coming back up, observe it and be aware of it, but it doesn’t mean you have to believe every thought that comes up in your mind.
Journaling can help with this by writing out any limiting beliefs that may pop up. All you have to do is re-write these beliefs into what you do want to believe in. Repeat these affirmations several times a day until it becomes a part of you.
Examples of affirmations you could use:
“Everything is always working out for me.”
“Money flows to me easily and effortlessly.”
“My body is strong and healthy.”
6. Take inspired action
This doesn’t have to be anything drastic. Just take small steps in the direction that you want to go (for example, just start looking at jobs online if you are looking for your dream job or maybe set up an online dating profile if you are trying to meet your soulmate). It shouldn’t feel hard or like too much work. Just small steps in the direction you are going in.
Tips:
Don’t tell anyone what you are working on manifesting. Many times they will add to your limiting beliefs which can cause you to solidify those limiting beliefs. I know this is tough, especially when it’s exciting. Just wait to tell everyone after it’s already been manifested 😊
