There’s nothing better than to come home to a wonderful, curated relaxing space. A space that is clutter free and clean so all you have to do is relax! Here are some ways you can make your own sanctuary bedroom.
- Create a relaxing ambience
- Add candles– Keep a few of your favorite candles on hand. The candlelight and delicious scents can surely add a little luxury and calmness to your space.
- Add relaxing music– Anything calming and relaxing like jazz, spa music, or relaxing piano are great options.
- Add plants. Not only do they look amazing but they also help clean the air! There are many good options for plants in your bedroom.
- Pothos, snake plants, and zz plants require little light and water- making them a super simple option- even if you don’t have a green thumb!
- Herbs are a great option for windows. They require some direct light and need to be watered every other day. My favorites include mint, thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil, and parsley. They smell amazing, look amazing, and taste amazing.
- Succulents are another great option for windows. They require little light and are super cute. String of hearts, dolphins, pearls, or bananas are beautiful in hanging baskets!
- Keep the space clutter free and clean– I don’t know about you, but when I want to relax there’s nothing more distracting than seeing a mess or clutter. Do yourself a favor and keep up with the maintenance of your space. You deserve it! Keep up with regular vacuuming and dusting. Pick up items that don’t belong in this habit immediately, don’t let things sit there that don’t belong. It’s a great self-love habit.
- Declutter– Donate clothes, shoes, and other items you no longer use. Why keep your space cluttered with things you no longer use when it could be given to someone else who may really love it. It feels good to give to others in need. Only allow the things you absolutely love to be in your space, especially your bedroom!
- Choose luxurious bedding
- Invest in luxurious bedding and add lots of comfy pillows-This has been an absolute game changer for me. You spend a lot of time in bed, it’s well worth the investment!
- Buy luxurious bedding like cotton or linen. It feels amazing on then skin and makes you feel like you are in a hotel. Linen is a great option as it keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Etsy has many shops that handmake linen sheets, duvet covers, pillows, and so much more in Europe! It’s worth the investment and can last a whole lifetime if taken care of. Brooklinen also has great full linen sets that are made in Portugal or cotton percale that are made in turkey.
- Choose silk pillowcases. Silk has many benefits for your hair and skin and feels so luxurious!
- Invest in luxurious bedding and add lots of comfy pillows-This has been an absolute game changer for me. You spend a lot of time in bed, it’s well worth the investment!
- Add lots of pillows
- Add plenty of pillows. European down pillows make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. Euro pillows are great for lounging and ready. Plus they look amazing! Add a throw pillow, either a 14×36 or a square pillow. You could also add a bolster which adds even more comfort and relaxation.
- Choose relaxing wall colors
- Paint your space with calming colors and make sure it’s something you love. Colors like cream, beige, grey, light blues are excellent options to make your space feel warm, inviting, and relaxing.
- Add paintings or photos that you love
- Add details to your walls that make the space unique to you! Add paintings or photos that make you feel relaxed and peaceful. This could be of the beach, the mountains, flowers, plants, or anything else you love. Maybe it’s a place you’ve always dreamed of visiting like Paris or Italy. Paintings or photos could also be inspiring or motivating. Just think, this very well could be the first thing you look at when you wake up in the morning!
- Add curtains
- Choose curtains in a color that relaxes you and that goes with your wall colors. White curtains are a great option because they go with everything! I like to keep my bedding and curtains simple colors like white but then add pops of color on my throw pillows which can easily be changed throughout the year and seasons as needed!
